Concentrate on your business domain!
NAVICON provides unforeseen flexible and extensible implementation of a generic IALA compliant Logical Shore Station.
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
It works!
The LSS-kit is built using the NAVICON COTS product Interfais. Other products, such as Databais and Replais are built using LSS-kit.
Thus LSS-kit is field-proven technology included in the upcoming nation-wide AIS Denmark system.

 |
What is it, then?
Component-based LSS Infrastructure for land-based AIS systems.
Use NAVICON's logical shore station kit as an out-of-the box LSS or
extend it to quickly build your own custom LSS -- just add business logic.
LSS-kit so flexible that is difficult to explain in few words. Think of it as a stream of AIS information, with one component passing information to the next. It is built for extension allowing any third party developed modules to be pushed on to the message stream as specified by the filter and pipe pattern to further enhance AIS data processing.
New components (new behaviour) can even be added at run-time without interrupting a running LSS!

Standard components included
The standard components can be mixed to build many different LSS'es. It is
possible to read AIS data from files into a database by using the file
back end with the database front end, if the data contains doublets just
add the doublet filter in between and the doublets are removed before
data goes in the database. In a similar way it is possible to build a
"concentrator" LSS the provides data from a number of sources to a
number of clients by combining the socket back end with the socket
front end.
File and socket based back end for reading AIS data in to the LSS
data stream.
NMEA 0183 Conversion module for parsing and transforming VDO/VDO
messages to messages as defined by our Interfais library.
Doublet filter for removing doublet messages received, e.g., when
base stations have coverage that is overlapping.
XML and CSV output modules for transforming incoming AIS data for
further processing, e.g., for web presentation.
Socket based front end allowing multiple clients to received the
concentrated and possibly filtered data. Secure connections via SSL
including client authentication is possible allowing for secure
transmission of AIS data over open networks like the Internet.
Database front end inserting AIS data mapped to tables into a spatial
database system. Allowing the AIS data to be spatial analyzed
utilizing the spatial query functions of the database system.
Database front end inserting AIS data mapped to tables into a spatial
database system. Allowing the AIS data to be spatial analyzed
utilizing the spatial query functions of the database system.
Database front end reading data from a database on to the LSS stream
enabling replay of AIS data recorded in the database.
Future extensions will include modules for routing AIS messages for
land base clients to base stations and more filter modules for doing
filtering on geographic areas, filtering on all attributes specified
in ITU 1371, down sampling filter for bandwidth limited clients.

LSS-kit is compliant with the IALA A124 specification. It has out-of-the-box ready components for the most frequently occurring land based scenarios:
Concentrating data from multiple base station including doublet removal.
Data conversion converting received AIS data into formats more well
suited for further processing, e.g., XML.
AIS data recording into a spatial database system allowing for
unlimited replay and a wealth of spatial analysis and reporting,
e.g., near mis situations...
AIS data import reading file based AIS data into a database system
for analysis.
